Inspirational Quotes For Victims Of Abuse

I thought I was weak

But now I know I am strong

I thought no one needed me

I was so wrong

I hid in fear

Wish I could disappear

But now I know I am just as important

I am needed

That’s why I am here

My words have the power to heal me

May I speak health into my life

Into my soul

Into my body

Into my spirit

I refuse to sit and pity myself because of what you have done

I will walk with my head held high

I have done no wrong

Self governance suggests that we adopt a thought process that allows for healing. We should not allow ourselves to be imprisoned by past hurtful experiences. We must see ourselves as responsible for moving beyond the past; even when we have been hurt by those we trust dearly.

I looked at myself in the mirror and I thought

I am beautiful!

How could they not see?

It is children like me who keeps the world laughing

We know what it is to be free.

The laugh is on you

It’s not on me

You imprisoned yourself when you ill treated me

You made yourself less than you should be

But I stood tall

I never kneel

The rivers I have crossed

The mountains so steep

The roads that were rocky

The valleys were deep

I refuse to make my past be that which defines me

But they have helped to make me strong

Just take a good look at me

I extend forgiveness for all you have done

If I were to house resentment you would have won

And my body would suffer from the unforgiving trap

I am moving forward!

I will never look back

I will sing a song for me

It is a song of love

Of laughter

Of freedom

Of peace

I looked up and I saw the sky

I thought to myself

Wow! I was created too!

And given wings to fly
